Heal a Meniscus Tear with Stem Cells
Surgery used to be the only answer, but now you can heal a meniscus tear with stem cells. Mesenchymal stem cells are helping people from around the world to heal without painful surgery. Here are just some of the studies that have been conducted into this pioneering medical breakthrough:
- Mesenchymal Stem Cells as Trophic Mediators
- Meniscus repair using mesenchymal stem cells
- Secreted trophic factors of mesenchymal stem cells support neurovascular and musculoskeletal therapies
These are just some of the studies that we will be digging further into with this article to explain the benefits of choosing a stem cell therapy over surgery for meniscus tears.
How I healed 4 Meniscus Tears in my Right Knee with Stem Cells!
I had 25 million mesenchymal stem cells injected into my knee in hopes of healing multiple meniscus tears and an ACL tear. After the stem cell injection my knee felt great for the first week. Then the second week it hurt like it did before treatment. Week 3 my knee felt great again and then week 4 it hurt a bit, but not as bad as before. This back and forth with pain and feeling good continued for about 2 months. Then at about week 10 post treatment I realized that the pain never came back. I continued on pain free and then 9 months post treatment I had a follow up MRI done of my knee. It no longer showed any meniscus tears or ACL tear! My knee is still pain free and it has been over 2 years since my treatment. You can see my before and after knee MRIs below:
Why Stem Cells Instead of Surgery?
Surgery is not the best option any longer because stem cells can actually regenerate the meniscus. Meniscus surgery actually fails 90% of the time because it removes torn pieces of meniscus and doesn’t actually heal anything. The meniscus is a shock absorber that the knee needs to function properly. If you remove more of it with surgery then you have less ability to handle impacts. Your cartilage and bone then take on the task of absorbing impacts which leads to bone spurs and arthritis. Recent studies have actually shown that meniscus surgery is no more effective than a good physical therapy routine. All of these reasons lead to the conclusion that a stem cell therapy is the better option. Stem Cell Therapy on the meniscus will actually guide the regeneration of meniscus tissue and lead to pain reduction and a healthy knee.
