9 Things to Know Before Getting Stem Cell Hashimoto’s Disease Treatment in Mexico

Hashimoto’s disease is an autoimmune condition in which the immune system attacks the thyroid, and it is usually managed long term with an endocrinologist. Decisions about treatment should be made with your own doctor. If you are exploring stem cell therapy as an added option, here are nine things to know before you book treatment at Dream Body Clinic in Bucerías, near Puerto Vallarta.

1. The protocol combines an IV with a direct thyroid injection

Treatment is a 300 million mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) intravenous infusion, a NAD+ and high-dose vitamin C IV drip, and a direct injection of 25 million MSCs into the thyroid. The clinic describes the aim as supporting immune modulation and reduced thyroid inflammation. It is offered as an addition to your regular thyroid care, not a replacement for it.

2. It is not a cure, and results vary

The clinic says there is no guarantee of results. Research on MSCs in Hashimoto’s disease is limited and ongoing, and this is a clinic protocol, not an FDA-approved U.S. indication. Keep taking your prescribed thyroid medication and don’t change your dose without your own doctor, since thyroid hormone needs can shift over time.

3. The two parts do different jobs

The clinic explains that the IV is meant to act on the immune system throughout the body, and the direct thyroid injection is meant to target the area of inflammation. Its page says the clinic used to give only the IV and added the thyroid injection to see whether it speeds up the process. These are the mechanisms the clinic is targeting, not a promised outcome for every patient.

4. The cells are made in the clinic’s own lab

The cells are allogeneic MSCs from Wharton’s jelly (umbilical cord tissue) and placenta from live, healthy births, expanded in the clinic’s on-site, ISO-rated, COFEPRIS-certified lab. The clinic says its lab has more than 8 years of experience cultivating MSCs.

5. Bloodwork comes first

Treatment follows laboratory clearance, with bloodwork reviewed by the clinic’s physicians. Bring your diagnosis details, your recent thyroid lab results (such as TSH, thyroid hormone levels and thyroid antibodies), your medication list and any thyroid ultrasound to the free consultation.

6. One published price

The all-inclusive package is $13,500 USD. It covers the 300 million cell IV, the NAD+ and vitamin C drip, the direct 25 million cell thyroid injection, bloodwork and physician review.

7. Plan for at least four days in town

Day 1 arrive and rest, Day 2 bloodwork and payment, Day 3 treatment, Day 4 fly home. If you stay longer, the days don’t need to be consecutive.

8. Know the risks and who isn’t treated

About 1 in 100 people have a slight fever or headache for a few hours afterward. Any IV carries a small risk of infection and, rarely, of releasing a clot from the veins, especially with high cholesterol. Pain or inflammation at the thyroid injection site is possible, and the clinic provides medication if it occurs. The clinic does not treat anyone who has had cancer in the past 5 years. Seek emergency care for trouble breathing or swallowing, rapid swelling in the neck, chest pain or high fever, and don’t wait for a clinic appointment.

9. Progress is gradual and individual

Thyroid antibody levels and symptoms can change slowly, and fatigue has many causes. Before you travel, record a baseline with your own doctor, such as TSH, thyroid hormone and antibody levels, energy, mood and weight, and plan repeat tests with them afterward so change is measured, not remembered.
