9 Things to Know Before Getting Stem Cell Sciatica Treatment in Mexico

Sciatica, with its shooting leg pain, numbness and tingling, can make sitting, sleeping and walking difficult. If you want a non-surgical option, here are nine things to know before you book stem cell sciatica treatment at Dream Body Clinic in Bucerías, near Puerto Vallarta.

1. The protocol is 200 million cells in total: local injections plus an IV

Four intramuscular injections of 25 million mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) each, 100 million in total, are placed around the most affected area of the lower back, together with PRP. A separate 100 million MSC IV follows, then NAD+ and high-dose vitamin C, for 200 million MSCs overall. It is the same protocol the clinic uses for lower back stem cell treatment.

2. It targets the inflammation around the nerve

Sciatica is commonly caused by a herniated disc pressing on or irritating the sciatic nerve, with an inflammatory component. MSCs are described as aiming to calm inflammation around the nerve, support disc and soft-tissue repair, and release neurotrophic factors that can support irritated nerves. The cells work mainly by signaling, and results vary.

3. The cells are made in the clinic’s own lab

The MSCs come from Wharton’s jelly and placenta from live, healthy births. They are processed in Dream Body Clinic’s on-site, COFEPRIS-certified and ISO-rated laboratory, which the clinic says has more than 8 years of experience cultivating MSCs.

4. There is one published price, with the MRI included

The all-inclusive package is $8,700 USD. It includes a full blood panel, an MRI, the local injections with PRP, the 100 million cell IV, the NAD+ and vitamin C drip, and facility care. If the MRI shows you aren’t a candidate, you pay only $500 for the MRI and $300 for the blood panel.

The page describes it for people with sciatica, radiating leg pain, numbness or related lower back symptoms, including herniated discs, who want to avoid or delay surgery. Leg pain, numbness and tingling may ease sooner than structural changes in the disc, which are gradual. Results vary with the severity and duration of the condition.

6. It is not right for everyone

An MRI decides candidacy. Advanced osteophytes (bone spurs) or a complete tear are the most common reasons for disqualification. The clinic does not treat anyone who has had cancer in the past 5 years, as a precaution. Some patients do not respond. Progressive leg weakness, numbness in the groin area, or bladder or bowel changes need emergency medical evaluation, not a stem cell appointment.

7. An MRI is required, and you get it on site

The MRI is done at the clinic during your stay. If you have a written radiology report from the past year, email it (the report, not the images) to info@dreambodyclinic.net for a first read, but a new MRI is still required. The MRI space is tight, about 1 ft (30 cm) from the bed to the magnet. Check the coil image on the page, and call ahead if you may not fit so the clinic can schedule it at a partner lab.

8. Plan for at least five days, and expect a gradual recovery

Day 1 arrive and rest, Day 2 MRI and bloodwork, Day 3 MRI review, then payment, Day 4 treatment, Day 5 fly home. After treatment, the clinic advises about two weeks without exercise, then about four weeks of light physical rehab. Most patients resume normal activities within about six weeks. Improvements are commonly reported over the following months, with peak results often in the 3 to 6 month window, and results vary. There is a very small risk of infection, and some soreness is possible in the first days.

9. Preparation matters

  • Stop NSAIDs at least 1 week before treatment and for at least 2 weeks after (preferably 6 weeks).
  • Avoid cortisone or corticosteroid injections for 3 months before treatment, and for at least 3 months after (preferably 6).
  • Avoid prednisone and anti-inflammatory supplements such as ginkgo biloba or turmeric for at least 2 weeks after.
  • Bring prior imaging reports.

The clinic says these drugs interfere with how MSCs respond to inflammation. Always check with your own doctor before stopping any prescribed medication.
