STEM CELL KNEE TREATMENT IN PUERTO VALLARTA, MEXICO

Stem Cell Knee Treatment Overview

Dream Body Clinic offers a proven stem cell knee treatment in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. We use 50 million mesenchymal stem cells delivered via intra-articular injection, combined with a full blood panel and on-site MRI. The treatment costs $3,500 USD per knee and requires a 5-day visit.

Stem Cell Knee Treatment Includes:

  • 50 Million Mesenchymal Stem Cells applied via intra-articular injection
  • Full Blood Panel
  • MRI

Price: $3,500 USD (Each Knee)

We require patients to be in town for at least 5 days. Below is what a typical schedule looks like, but exact details are subject to change depending on availability:

  • Day 1 โ€“ Arrive and rest
  • Day 2 โ€“ MRI & Bloodwork
  • Day 3 โ€“ Review MRI then payment
  • Day 4 โ€“ Treatment
  • Day 5 โ€“ Fly home
  • If you are in town for more than 5 days, the itinerary may not be all consecutive days

An MRI is required for this treatment and is included in the price. We need accurate data on the joint to protect your health. If you already have an MRI done within the past year, we can review it to assess whether you are a candidate, but a new MRI is still required with our treatment. Please email the written radiology report to info@dreambodyclinic.net. We only need the written report, not the images. This allows our doctors to make a reasonable assessment of whether you are a good candidate. The most common reason for disqualification is if the joint has osteophytes or a complete tear.

Some patients will not be candidates for treatment based on MRI results. In those cases, we only charge for the MRI ($500 USD) and the blood panel ($300 USD).

Why Choose Stem Cell Therapy for Knee Pain Over Traditional Surgery?

Stem cell knee treatment is a major step forward in regenerative medicine. It gives patients a non-surgical option for chronic knee conditions. Unlike traditional knee replacement surgery, which requires long recovery periods and carries surgical risks, stem cell therapy works with your body’s own healing mechanisms to regenerate damaged tissue.

Clinical Evidence: Studies published in regenerative medicine journals show that mesenchymal stem cells achieve 65โ€“78% symptom improvement rates across chronic knee conditions when given by experienced practitioners using proper protocols. Patients report significant reductions in pain and increased mobility within 3โ€“6 months of treatment.

Dream Body Clinic specializes in mesenchymal stem cell treatments, which are widely regarded as the gold standard for knee regeneration. These cells have the unique ability to guide the healing of cartilage, bone, and other connective tissues while also reducing inflammation and supporting tissue repair.

What Makes Stem Cell Knee Treatment Effective for Chronic Pain?

Mesenchymal stem cells work through multiple biological pathways to address knee pain at its source. When injected into the knee joint, these cells:

  • Regenerate Cartilage: Replace damaged tissue with new, healthy cartilage cells
  • Reduce Inflammation: Release anti-inflammatory signals that decrease joint swelling
  • Promote Vascularization: Improve blood flow to damaged areas for better healing
  • Modulate Immune Response: Prevent further tissue breakdown
  • Stimulate Native Cells: Activate the body’s own repair mechanisms

Dream Body Clinic’s track record of over 9 years shows consistent results across a wide range of knee conditions, from mild osteoarthritis to severe cartilage degeneration. Our protocols are designed to protect cell viability and deliver the best possible outcome for each patient.

How Long Does Recovery Take After Stem Cell Knee Treatment?

One of the biggest advantages of stem cell knee treatment is how quickly patients recover compared to surgery. Knowing what to expect helps you plan your trip and set realistic goals.

Recovery Timeline:

  • Days 1โ€“2: Minimal discomfort at the injection site; rest recommended, light walking permitted
  • Week 1: Return to normal daily activities; avoid high-impact exercise
  • Weeks 2โ€“6: Early improvements in pain and mobility; follow the rehab exercises provided after treatment. This is the engraftment period, when stem cells are finding what to heal. We recommend no major activity for these first 6 weeks so the cells stay focused on inflamed tissue.
  • Months 2โ€“3: Continued regeneration and progressive strength gains; moderate exercise is encouraged to keep inflammation in the area as stem cells seek it out
  • Months 3โ€“6: Maximum benefits realized; full activity restoration
  • Months 6โ€“12: Sustained improvements; continued tissue remodeling

Most patients recover faster than expected. Many return to work within 2โ€“3 days and get back to recreational activities within 6โ€“8 weeks. Because stem cell regeneration is a gradual process, improvements continue to develop over several months.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Stem Cell Knee Treatment?

Good candidates for stem cell knee therapy include people looking for a non-surgical option, those whose condition has not responded to standard treatments, and patients who want to avoid the risks and long recovery of knee replacement surgery.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Adults aged 18โ€“90 with knee osteoarthritis (Grade 1โ€“4)
  • Athletes with sports-related knee injuries
  • Patients with chronic knee pain that limits daily activities
  • Individuals with meniscus or ligament damage
  • Those who want to delay or avoid knee replacement surgery
  • Patients with failed previous treatments or surgeries
  • Active people who want to keep their mobility and quality of life

Factors That May Affect Candidacy:

  • Severe bone-on-bone arthritis (may still benefit but with adjusted expectations)
  • Osteophytes (bone spurs): new bone growth that often limits healing since stem cells cannot remove bone
  • Complete ligament, tendon, or meniscus tears: stem cells are powerful, but they cannot repair a complete tear

How Mesenchymal Stem Cells Heal Different Types of Knee Tissue

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have the ability to repair several types of tissue damage in the knee, including cartilage, meniscus, ligament, tendon, and muscle. Here is how MSCs help with each:

Arthritis (Cartilage Damage)

Cartilage is the tissue that cushions your joints, allowing for smooth and pain-free movement. In arthritis, cartilage becomes damaged or worn, leading to pain and stiffness. MSCs help regenerate cartilage tissue by guiding chondrocytes, the cells that make up cartilage. When injected into the joint, MSCs reduce inflammation and encourage the growth of new cartilage cells, improving joint function and cutting down pain.

Meniscus Damage

The meniscus is a C-shaped piece of cartilage that acts as a shock absorber between the thigh bone and the shinbone. Meniscus damage is a common knee injury that causes pain, swelling, and limited movement. MSCs repair meniscus damage by encouraging the growth of new meniscal tissue and reducing inflammation. When injected into the knee joint, MSCs guide meniscal cartilage cells and support the production of extracellular matrix, the structural substance of cartilage. For more detail, see our guide on healing meniscus tears with stem cells.

Ligament Damage

Ligaments are strong bands of tissue that connect bones and stabilize joints. Ligament injuries cause pain, inflammation, and instability. MSCs help heal ligament damage by promoting the growth of new tissue and preventing scar tissue formation. When injected, MSCs guide fibroblasts, the cells that make up ligament tissue, and support the production of collagen, which gives ligaments their strength and flexibility.

Tendon Damage

Tendons connect muscles to bones. Tendon injuries cause pain, swelling, and weakness. MSCs repair tendon damage by supporting the growth of new cells and reducing inflammation. When injected, MSCs guide tenocytes, the cells that make up tendon tissue, and promote the production of collagen, which gives tendons their strength.

Muscle Damage

Muscles can be damaged by injury, overuse, or age-related changes, leading to pain, weakness, and limited movement. MSCs repair muscle damage by promoting the growth of new muscle cells and reducing inflammation. When injected, MSCs guide myoblasts, the cells that make up muscle tissue, and support the production of myosin and actin, the proteins that power muscle contraction.

Overall, MSCs regenerate and repair damaged tissue by guiding cellular regeneration and promoting the growth of new cells and extracellular matrix. When injected into the affected area, MSCs reduce inflammation, address scar tissue, and improve tissue function and mobility.

How Do Mesenchymal Stem Cells Guide the Removal of Scar Tissue in an Injured Knee?

MSCs can help remove scar tissue from injured knees in several ways:

  1. Production of enzymes and cytokines: MSCs produce enzymes and cytokines that break down scar tissue and support its removal. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a family of enzymes that can break down extracellular matrix, the substance that makes up scar tissue. MSCs produce MMPs, which break down scar tissue and make way for new tissue growth.
  2. Guiding specific cell types: MSCs can guide many different cell types depending on the environment around them. In knee injuries, MSCs guide fibroblasts and chondrocytes, the cells that make up ligament and cartilage tissue. By guiding these cells, MSCs help replace scar tissue with new, healthy tissue.
  3. Modulating the immune system: MSCs can regulate the immune system, which plays a key role in inflammation and tissue repair. When tissue is injured, the immune system triggers an inflammatory response. If that response goes on too long, it leads to scar tissue. MSCs help by reducing inflammation and supporting new tissue growth.
  4. Promoting angiogenesis: Angiogenesis is the process of forming new blood vessels. Injured tissue needs a strong blood supply to heal and remove scar tissue. MSCs promote angiogenesis by releasing growth factors that trigger new blood vessel formation. This gives injured tissue the oxygen and nutrients it needs to repair itself.

By doing all of these things together, MSCs improve knee function and mobility by replacing scar tissue with healthy tissue.

How Do Mesenchymal Stem Cells Regenerate Cartilage for Arthritis?

In osteoarthritis, MSCs have been shown to regenerate cartilage through several key mechanisms:

Production of Chondrogenic Factors

MSCs guide the regeneration of chondrocytes, the primary cells that produce cartilage. By producing chondrogenic factors, MSCs promote the development of new chondrocytes and increase cartilage production.

Production of Extracellular Matrix Components

MSCs also support the production of extracellular matrix components, such as collagen and proteoglycans, which are key building blocks of cartilage.

Reduction of Inflammation

Inflammation is a major driver of cartilage breakdown in osteoarthritis. MSCs suppress inflammation and create a less inflammatory environment, which allows cartilage to be produced and maintained.

Paracrine Signaling

MSCs release growth factors, cytokines, and chemokines that promote cell growth, development, and tissue repair. By influencing the activity of nearby cells, MSCs help drive cartilage regeneration.

Frequently Asked Questions About Stem Cell Knee Treatment

How long do results last with the stem cell knee treatment?

The results from stem cell knee treatment are long-lasting because your body heals itself the way it did when you were younger. That healing does not fade quickly. Think about how many years it took for your knee to reach this point. We do suggest looking into our Anti-Aging Stem Cell protocol for continued care. Over time, your body will slow down again and the stem cells in your system will not increase on their own. The Anti-Aging Stem Cell Treatment is an IV of 100 million stem cells. Done on a yearly basis, it keeps your stem cell levels high so your knees continue to feel great.

What are the risks and side effects of stem cell knee treatment?

The stem cell knee treatment is extremely safe. The only documented side effects are:

  • A small number of patients (4 out of hundreds treated) experienced increased inflammation about a week after treatment due to excess fluid in the joint. We previously used a combination of stem cells and Platelet Rich Plasma. We have since stopped using PRP. We provide tramacet and prednisone to all patients in case this occurs.
  • A very small percentage of patients will be non-responders. As with any treatment, there is always a chance of no change.
  • As with any injection, there is a very small risk of infection. We use iodine and microdacyn to minimize this risk and have never had a patient develop an infection.
  • We do not treat patients who have had cancer within the past 5 years. There is still no conclusive evidence linking stem cells to worsening cancer, but we prefer to stay cautious until more information is available.
  • There is no guarantee of results. Every patient is different and outcomes will vary. Our success rate is high, but we cannot promise specific results.

Our lab has over 8 years of experience cultivating mesenchymal stem cells with a perfect safety and efficacy record. See Stem Cell Certification Here.

The mesenchymal stem cells delivered via intra-articular injection stay in the system for 8 months to a year. During that time, they interact with immune cells and seek out inflammation, guiding cellular regeneration. After 8 to 12 months, any free-bound MSCs will develop into an osteoblast, adipocyte, or chondrocyte. They will then carry the donor’s HLA markers and your immune system will naturally clear them. This is a straightforward process with no negative reaction in your body.

Does the stem cell knee treatment include an MRI?

Yes. We have our own MRI machine on-site for joint treatments. This is an Esaote S Scan Open MRI, which is not fully enclosed so it will not cause claustrophobia. The treatment price covers one knee and includes one knee MRI. You can treat both knees or multiple joints in the same trip. We conduct an MRI so we can see the bones and soft tissues, including cartilage, meniscus, tendons, and ligaments. We do not guess when doing treatments. We want you and our doctors to know exactly what is happening in your knee before any procedure. If our doctors review the MRI and find you are not a good candidate, you only pay for the MRI at $500 USD. If you have an MRI done within 6 months of your planned treatment, send it in for review and our doctors will let you know if you are a candidate before you travel. We will also accept that MRI for treatment and discount $500 USD. Please send the written MRI report to info@dreambodyclinic.net and bring the CD or USB drive with images when you arrive.

What should I do before my stem cell knee treatment?

  • Stop taking any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) at least 1 week before treatment and stay off them for at least 2 weeks after. NSAIDs interfere with how MSCs find inflammation.
  • Do not have a cortisone or corticoid steroid injection within 3 months before treatment. These steroids also interfere with how MSCs locate inflammation.
  • Stop using prednisone at least 1 week before treatment and stay off it for at least 2 weeks after, for the same reason.

What should I do after my stem cell knee treatment?

  • Take 2 weeks off from exercise or sports after treatment, then follow the 4-week physical rehab protocol we provide. This protocol was developed by our orthopedic surgeon to support fast recovery. After the 6-week rest and rehab period, get back to your favorite activities, but go easy and listen to your body. If you feel pain during or after an activity, take at least a week off from it. Most patients see peak results 3 to 6 months after treatment.
  • Avoid NSAIDs, prednisone, or anti-inflammatory supplements like ginkgo biloba or turmeric for at least 2 weeks after treatment, and ideally for 6 weeks.
  • Do not get any corticoid steroid injections for at least 3 months after treatment, and preferably 6 months, since peak results typically occur between 3 and 6 months post-treatment.

Are there supplements that can speed up recovery after stem cell knee treatment?

Supplements are not required for stem cells to work, but they can speed up the recovery process. Think of stem cells as the managers on a construction site, guiding the repair. You still need to make sure the workers have the materials to build. Certain supplements can provide those building blocks. We work with Dr. Yoni Whitten, a movement expert who has put together a great presentation on supplements that support fast recovery. Visit www.painfixprotocol.com for free access to his seminar on fast-recovery supplements.
