9 Things to Know Before Getting Stem Cell Middle Back Treatment in Mexico

Chronic middle back pain from the thoracic spine, whether from a herniated disc, arthritic joints or irritated nerves, can limit sleep, work and movement. If you want a non-surgical option, here are nine things to know before you book stem cell middle back treatment at Dream Body Clinic in Bucerías, near Puerto Vallarta.

1. The protocol is 200 million cells in total: local injections plus an IV

Four intramuscular injections of 25 million mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) each, 100 million in total, are placed around the most affected area of the thoracic spine, together with PRP. A separate 100 million MSC IV follows, then NAD+ and high-dose vitamin C, for 200 million MSCs overall. The aim is to help calm inflammation and support a more favorable environment for healing in the thoracic spine.

2. The cells are made in the clinic’s own lab

The MSCs come from Wharton’s jelly and placenta from live, healthy births. They are processed in Dream Body Clinic’s on-site, COFEPRIS-certified and ISO-rated laboratory, which the clinic says has more than 8 years of experience cultivating MSCs.

3. There is one published price, with the MRI included

The all-inclusive package is $8,700 USD. It includes a full blood panel, an MRI, the local injections with PRP, the 100 million cell IV, the NAD+ and vitamin C drip, and facility care in a certified facility. If the MRI shows you aren’t a candidate, you pay only $500 for the MRI and $300 for the blood panel.

4. It is used for common thoracic spine problems

The page describes it for chronic middle back or thoracic spine pain, herniated or bulging discs, stenosis, facet arthritis and nerve-related symptoms, especially for people who want to avoid or delay surgery. The cells work mainly by signaling, aiming to calm inflammation and guide the body’s own repair cells. Results vary with the severity and duration of the condition.

5. It is not right for everyone

An MRI decides candidacy. Advanced osteophytes (bone spurs) or a complete tear are the most common reasons for disqualification. The clinic does not treat anyone who has had cancer in the past 5 years, as a precaution. Some patients do not respond. Progressive weakness, changes in walking or bladder or bowel changes need urgent medical evaluation first.

6. An MRI is required, and you get it on site

The MRI is done at the clinic during your stay. If you have a written radiology report from the past year, email it (the report, not the images) to info@dreambodyclinic.net for a first read. The clinic’s open MRI isn’t claustrophobic, but space is limited. The bed-to-magnet space is about 1 ft (30 cm), so check the coil image on the page. If you may not fit, call ahead and the clinic will schedule your MRI at a partner lab.

7. Plan for at least five days in town

Day 1 arrive and rest, Day 2 MRI and bloodwork, Day 3 physician review of the MRI, then payment if you are cleared, Day 4 treatment, Day 5 fly home. The clinic lists airport transport to Puerto Vallarta (PVR) as provided. If you stay longer, the days don’t need to be consecutive.

8. Recovery is gradual

The clinic advises about two weeks without exercise, then about four weeks of light physical rehab. Most patients resume normal activities within about six weeks. Improvements are commonly reported over the following months, with peak results often in the 3 to 6 month window, and results vary. As with any injection, there is a very small risk of infection, and some soreness or tightness is possible in the first days.

9. Preparation matters

  • Stop NSAIDs at least 1 week before treatment and for at least 2 weeks after (preferably 6 weeks).
  • Avoid cortisone or corticosteroid injections for 3 months before treatment, and for at least 3 months after (preferably 6).
  • Avoid prednisone and anti-inflammatory supplements such as ginkgo biloba or turmeric for at least 2 weeks after.
  • Bring prior imaging reports.

The clinic says these drugs interfere with how MSCs respond to inflammation. Always check with your own doctor before stopping any prescribed medication.
